I thought that the "interactive theater Carolina" was quite interesting. I like their approach to such difficult issues, because it helps people to be open-minded and analyze situations rather than being prejudiced by stereotypes. I liked how issues were evaluated from all sides. It was interesting how it showed us how we evaluate situations differently depending on stereotypes or personal experience.
I thought the most thought provoking part was when he switched the characters to bring the impact of gender and then race into the scene. I had not realized how much these two aspects were affecting my interpretation of the seen until the roles where reversed.

The Interactive Carolina theatre was very interesting. I am so glad people are doing performances about such touchy issues in our society. There are some things that people know are problems like racism or gender issues, but refuse to think about or recognize. The theatre really shows how important these issues are and bring them to real life situations so people will recognize them and relate to them.
I was really impressed by Interactive Theatre Carolina - being able to "adjust" the scene and speak with the characters provided a lot of opportunity for the audience to question and analyze in a more precise way - to question what was going on and how it related to the topic of socio-economic status issues at UNC. And, bravo to the actors for being able to stay in character, they did a great job.
As I mentioned yesterday, this was my second time seeing the "Just Be Reasonable" performance by Interactive Theater Carolina. I believe they really do an excellent job of really engaging the audience to truly think and discuss their scenes about very controversial issues. When I first saw this performance the person of "privileged" was a black female and the person who was of lower socioeconomic status was a white man. In this case, I will agree with what several people said that it was hard to really accept this scene as being legitimate. And this really shouldn't be the case. That is why we need to have more discussions like the one we had yesterday, so that it will be easier for people to discuss topics that are foreign to them or that they find sensitive. That is why ITC's tactic of switching the characters around and then further discussing the issues, really helps to achieve this.

Well, I wasn't kidding yesterday when I said that I would talk with my friend who could not come with me to Atlanta. I talked with him earlier this evening. It was sort of difficult to talk about, but I was able to use several questions from the interactive theater experience as starting points. Anyway, it turned into a great discussion -- we're closer friends now than we were before I called!
I also realize that it was my responsibility to call and talk to him, rather than vis versa. Class privilege, as we also talked about yesterday. Overall, I give Interactive Theater Carolina a big two thumbs up!

I really enjoyed the Interactive Theatre. I liked how they really made the audience think about the ideas they were presenting. The switching of characters to bring a gender and race impact was exceptional. The flip floping of characters made me realize how they were affecting my interpretation. My last note is that i thought it was iteresting how this preformance showed us how we can elevate situations just because of race or steryotypes.

Quite honestly, I was surprised at how effective the whole experience was. I was very impressed with how it was moderated as well as the ability of the actors to defend the viewpoints of another personality no matter if they shared the same viewpoints.
In general, the last portion of the exercise when we put different people in different standing positions made me think the most about how I attach stereotypes to people subconsciously. This is a disturbing thought when I consider how I may carry these actions out daily without being aware of it.
I thought that the whole experience was very interesting and a nice compliment to the ideas I am exploring with Scene and Heard on the weekends. If possible, I would like to see another performance by this group.

I really enjoyed the "Interactive Theater Carolina." Like many of the other comments have stated, I thought it was a really effective and unique way to discuss a difficult issue. By putting actors in the roles and letting the situation play out, and actually seeing it, makes it just as real as if it had come up in real life. I enjoyed the format of discussion too. Having the Q&A with the actors added more for discussion and brought out some unique points.

I really enjoyed the Interactive Theater Carolina performance. I thought the facilitator did a great job in creating a comfortable environment to discuss these issues, which can often be touchy subjects. I thought the most effective part was when he switched the characters around and asked us to comment on what we first noticed. This technique was very effective in helping us recognize stereotypes and how much we judge somebody in society. I really wish we could have continued discussing the situation with that facilitator for a longer time, as I think he did a great job in encouraging us to talk about those issues.
I thought that the Interactive Carolina Theater was very effective and engaging. I appreciated the facilitators emphasis on the importance of talking about these issues of race, class, gender, etc. I think I was able to see how often these issues are skirted around in my own life. I walked away from the experience realizing the importance of having a voice and speaking up about these topics, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. I thought the theater's mission in sparking dialog about such stereotypes was very effective.
I loved the interactive theater. It made me look deeper at the issue of class... especially class differences between friends. I could relate to the issue and was able to understand better from both sides as an outsider. The performance was so realistic and convincing. I really enjoyed the audience discussion of the issues. Very mind opening.
I had no idea what to expect from the Interactive Theater Carolina and I was pleasantly surprised. The actors did a great job and the questions posed following their presentation helped me to think about some important socioeconomic issues on a deeper level. I especially liked the part near the end where we switched some of the characters around and discussed how this changed our perceptions and expectations as a result of the either stereotypical or atypical racial, gender and economic dynamics. I'd love to see one of their performances again.
I really enjoyed the Interactive Theater Carolina Performance. This performance met and surpassed all expectations. The situation presented really made me reflect on how I would personally address the issues. I appreciate all questions posed by the audience. I think all actors did a great job and the moderator was an awesome facilitator to get the audience thinking deeper about these issues.
I also enjoyed the Interactive Theater Carolina. This display was diferent and engaging, and I feel like learning is much more effective when it is done in a way that involves the learner and not just a straight lecture. Thinking about race and gender issues just isn't the same unless you are actually taking part in the discussion, and that is what they did.
I truly enjoyed Interactive Theater Carolina. I usually don't enjoy theater performances and feel slightly uncomfortable or out of place during them, but last week's class was one of the best experiences I have had in a theater setting. I found it creative, innovative, educational, and rewarding to participate in. I would love to be able to attend more performances on a wide range of issues. This is an incredible way to engage an audience and get everyone to participate in these issues. I feel so blessed we were given this opportunity--thank you.
KI really enjoyed this Interactive Theatre and found it a very unique and effective in conveying a series of different issues. Many of the issues presented are common experiences for a typical college student and a lot of these issues people often do not even realize that they are occurring. This is probably the most important aspect of the theatre because it creates a sense of awareness for those who see the ITC and now are aware of these issues and can help spread that awareness to their set of friends. I really enjoyed when he did the character switching because at that point I had become locked into the 3 character’s roles and this really expanded the array of issues and situations.
I really enjoyed the interactive theater performance. I think that it was a great opportunity to practice incorporating the ideas that we talk about in class into actual conversations and situations that may arise with our peers.
I really enjoyed the interactive theater Carolina presentation and class discussion. I think it allowed us to pay attention to how human rights are violated in our daily lives in ways that we might not even notice. It was such a wonderful opportunity to discuss what we saw right after because it was fresh in our minds. It was very interesting to see the ways in which my thoughts changed based on which people were playing each character.
I thought the performance was very interesting, especially when the actors reversed roles. It defenitely forced me to explore what prejudices or stereotypes I may have, even on a subconcious level.

the Interactive theater was a great way to display certain prejudices and stereotypes. The characters were great. At times I thought that this was their actual personality. Great way to bring up controversial ideas to students and others. The question and answers after the act helped put everything in perspective and allows for unanswered questions to be answered. Great stuff!
